"At Byrom Street they make the effort to know you and to understand the kind of service you want from a barrister."

Equality Diversity and Inclusivity Statement 2022 - 2023

Byrom Street Chambers is a small, specialised set of practitioners, the majority of whose members hold judicial roles. We benefit from a low turnover of members and staff.  From this position, we recognise the importance and benefits of a diverse and inclusive team.

BSC is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity within our organisation and within our workplace. We are committed to the Equality Guidelines in the Bar Standards Board Handbook.

We operate a zero-tolerance policy of discrimination of any kind, either individually or collectively, whether direct, indirect, or by way of victimisation, against any person, or harassment of any person.

We are committed to promoting a culture where the individual is fairly treated and respected, and we promote a culture where diversity is appreciated.

We encourage applications from those currently underrepresented in the legal workforce and from disadvantaged groups, including women, Black and minority ethnic groups, people who are LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities or who are neurodiverse.

BSC will make reasonable adjustments where a practice, policy or procedure, or physical feature of premises, make it impossible or unreasonably difficult for a person with disabilities to make use of a service

This statement should be read in conjunction with our Anti-Racist Statement. BSC has committed to positive initiatives in the Race, Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Action Plan [under construction].

We are committed to reviewing our initiatives to ensure they are effective.
