"The clerking team is brilliant: they are very responsive and if a particular counsel can't help they are very proactive in suggesting others who are suitable."

Giles Wingate-Saul QC

7th September 2021

It is with great sadness that Chambers announce the of the death of former member Giles Wingate-Saul QC.

Giles died in the early hours of this morning. His daughter, Lucinda, said that he was very peaceful. Giles had been ill for a long time.

His long-time colleague and friend David Allan QC says this: “I shall remember Giles as a brilliant barrister who worked incredibly hard but was always willing to help you with a difficult point. He must have been one of the most admired individuals on the Northern Circuit. Lucinda mentions in her message that there will be a thanksgiving service in a few weeks and I will let you know the details when I hear.”

Byrom Street sends sincere condolences to Giles’s family and his many friends at the Bar.
